The meeting of the pastors of the District churches, on the subject of licensing the sale of liquor, was held at the pariois of the Foundry M. E Chiureh this mornyag—Rev. J. G. A communication was recetved from the Dis- triet Commissioners as to the course they had marked out A report was made from the co:n- mittee to confer with the school board, stating that the committee had organized and made some progress. Courser for Pion, Bedford and Qaeenan made argument, before the Attorney General and Judge Gray, the pardon clerk, to-day, in behalf of the three convicted men. Messrs. Coyle, Smith and Heyward, cf counsel, were present, and District Attorney Corkilll. ' Mr, Coyie, who has managed this case very well before the de- partment, was the principaltalker. The whole case Was gone Over. The polet sought to v3 made was to establish a doubt as to whether the convicted men were the guilty ones. Points of evidence were dissected and argued upoa. The hearing lasied an hour. Nothtagnew was presented. The pith of the arguments was that the men ought not to hing, becanse there was a doubt, as shown by theevidenc2. The Attorney General did not announce any decision or Indicate what he thought cf the matter. He will this_eventag or to-morrow confer with the Presideat, and a decision will thea be made. The Attorney General was too busy at the Supreme Court this afternoon to bring the matter to the President's attention. Of course it is impossi- ble to say what the decision will be.
