It was in deter- ence to this letter that the governor appointed a special detective for a new and exhaustive ta- Vestigation of the case, and the examination 1s now in progress. Originally, Gov. Andrews Wa3 opposed to the appointment of a special le- fective, maintaining that such a course would be interpreted as a retlection on the courts and duly authorized agents of the law. When the house was searched a married woman of Louisville was found to have given birth to a sull-born child. The body was not found. The unforiunates traveled several miles in a state of nudity, and, procuring some sheets and blank- ets, continued their journey to the railway, where they obtained suitable apparel.
