GEORGIA REPUBLICANS, ‘The Georgia republican state convention was held at Atlanta yesterday, It was characterized by bitter feeling and great excitement. The Majority of the convention was largely colored. AS S00n as it wascalled to order the contest be- tween the Grant men and antl-Grant men bs gan, both of whom endeavored to obtain controt of the organtation. Two chairmen were elect- ed, both taking the stand and demanding stlence. The excitement was intense, and, amid cries aud yells, the convention asstimed the shape of amob, At last a compromise was had on the temporary organization, and a committee on Permanent organization was appointed, which reported Major W. H. Smyth, a Blaine man, for president. ‘The Grant men denounced Unis &s & trick, and nominated a colored man named Pleasant for chairman. The question was put amid great confusion, and Smyth was declared elected. He took the chair while t ‘ontusion continued and the convention adjourned until this morning- ‘The Grant men claim they have been outraged, and held a caucus last. night to determine thelr policy. ‘They will demand a re- consideration of the vote on organization, and it tt ts not exercised a bolt ts probable. TEXAS DEMOCRATS. The Texas democratic state convention made E. G. Bower elector at large. The resciutions adopted advise support of the two-thirds rule, but the delegates go uninstructed. It was also resolved that the devotion of Gen. Hancock to constitutional rights and privileges of eltizens entitle him to the contidence of the people, and ‘Texas will, when called upon, show her appre- clauion of his generosity and magnanimity. The convention pledges undivided, enthustastic support to whomsoever the national convea ‘on may see fit to nominat VERMONT DEMOCRATS. At least four-fifths of the Vermont convention are reported to favor Hancock, but not as against any other candidate. It will be a Han- cock delegation wninstructed, except Lo vote as a unit and retain the two-thirds rule in the na- tichal convention. ILLINOIS GREENBACKERS, The Milinois greenback convendon met at Springfield yesterday, with about 200 delegates present Congressman Forsyth was made pres- dent. Thirty-six delegates to the national convention, four delegates at I sixteen presidential electors, and two at were elected. The usual platform was adopted. OHIO COUNTY CONVENTIONS.
