The District Commissioners stated this morn- ing that all differences between the District au- thorities and the United States Treasury de- partment have been adjusted. The First Con- | troller is satisfied that the manner of rendering accounts heretofore—namely: every quarter—ts the legal and correct way, and the requisition | withheld by that department will be honored toalay, The other matter as to holding the ; Commissioners individually responsible as dis- | bursing officers of the United States, is In statuo quo, and probably a legal opinion of the Attor- ney General will have to determine it. This, however, does not affect the dead-lock. 5 Controller Porter to-day granted the Com- missioners a requisition tor $353,000, He Says the whole subject will be adjusted in a short ume amicably to both sides, BIDS FOR BUNKS for the new workhouse were opened to-day, as follows: C. hneider & Sons, $1,444 32: White & Bro., $1 6.
