The horrible outrages committed lately in the same neighborhood upon two respectable young ladies by some colored man, or men, have naturally roused the public indignation to a white heat, and this feeling has been in- tensified by the fact that on the trial of Cephas Jones, charged with the crime in the first of these cases. a conviction was prevented by a disagreement of the jury; the colored jurors Standing out for a verdict of not guilty.
