The charge of communism has been made against the movement of the ‘workingmen, but has been repelled by them with warmth. Their opponents are, how- ever, making use of the declaration of one of their speakers that “if their votes were not fairly counted it would be very unhealthy for seme people to stay here, as lamp-posts were very convenient and pistol-shots not far off,” to show that they have communistic ideas in regard to riot and bloodshed.
