A FIGHT. A disgraceful fight took place on the border of the me round, near the “Horse Pen.” As on last Sabbath, a large quantity of bad whisky had been drank by theconir ymen , and upen both occasions the drinking, as usual, culminated in a fight. The particulars of this Sunday row, as near as could be ascertained, are as follows: A young man Whose name could not be learned, accused another by the name of Chas. Thompson, of stealing his jug of whisky, and made numer- ous attempis duting the day to provoke a quarrel, but was unsuccessful until about 3 o’clock, wheu he applied an insulting epithet to Thompson, who, stung tomadness, turned and struck his accuser, when a deputy sher- iY, with much more zeal than judgment, ran in, ard seizing kim, literally tore his coat from his body; but not before the sheriff was pretty well in the dust. The man, of course, resisted, then the crowd rushed in, and four or five men tried to handeuft the assailant. which they succeeded in doing after a severe struggle. IN AND OUT. He was then taken to the depot and con- fined in the telegraph office, a iarge crowd following, who gathered about the depot aud declared that he should not be taken to Rockville jail, offering to give any amount of bail for bis release.
