A crowd of Interested spectators assembled jast night In front of the Tilden and Hea- Gricks Reform Club headquarters on 7th street, to hear the dispatenes read, but as telegrams did not come so fast, nor 80 favor- able as on the night previous, many became uneasy and traveled toother = for news. About aine o'clock a RIPPLE OF EXCITEMENT, was occasioned in consequence of pistol shots op the outside and tbe yells of the crowd. It arose from a crowd of ‘several huadred col- ored men and boys, who were ou & mareh through the streets by the different offices where the news was received, and on going Up 7th street passed the dense throng in front of the Tilden and Hendricks headquarters; a | row began and the colored men <ook to their heels, and were pursued by the democratic boys for seve squares. At Republican Headquarters. The excitement around republican head. quarters on F street, between 10th and 11th streets, lastnight, was even greater than on Tuesday evening. The report that Tilden bad only 181 electoral votes certain, and that there was after all @ bare possibility of a republican victory, drew a large crowd @round the headquarters as early as 4 o’cleck in the afternoon, and the greatest eagerness Was manifested to get farther news. Judge !dmunds having gone to Phi!- adel; bia to visit the Centennial, returns Were received by Mr. E. T. Getchell, and were cowspicuously posted up on the lower floor. The retarns were aiso frequently an- bounced from the second story window by Col. Tichenor, and were received with wild enthusiasm by the hundreds gathered below.
