The fight seems to have originated from remarks made by Mr. Mushbach in council last Friday night, on the Mayor's veto, which remarks the Mayor took excep- tons to, and, it is alleged, that he thereupon made @ statement In the anditor’soffice, ac- cusipg Mr. Mushbach of having received a largesum of money from @ certain woman, to her husband, and of having converted the amount to his own uses. Mr. Moushbach hearing of these statements, last night, waited for Dr. Johnson this morning, at the corner of King and St. Asaph streets, and meeting him, after some few words, strock him on the neck with acane, whieh blow was returned py Dr. Johnson, who broke bis cane over Mr. Mushbach’s head, The partics then clinched and commenced pummeling each other with their fists, meanwhile gradually gettlog towards the curbstone, where Dr. Johnson fell, striking his face against the curb, knocking some skin from his nose, and tearing his clothing.
