Denty, who was wounded at the same time, is also rapid- ly recovering.—[ Ga-elée, 41h. DISCOURAGING MATRIMONY.—Some time ago Roundsman John W. ‘ireen, of the Jer- sey City police force, hired a girl thirteen — of age, namci Margaret Fletcher, to eep his rooms in order. He was subseqnent- ly married to the girl by a justice, without —— consent, and on the girl's repre- sentation that she was on args years old. Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher refused to sanction the marriage, and had Green arrested for having violated a law of the state forbidding marriage with a girl under eighteen years without her parents’ conrent. In the court of sessions, Green was convicted of abduc- tion, the penalty of which is five years im- prisonment.
