Examples can be found in almost every department where a male clerk re- ceives 31.500 for doing a certain class of Work, and where a female clerk doing pre- cisely the same kind of work, and doing it equally weil, gets but $900 per annum for her fervices. Instances are also common where clerks receiving $1,200, do the same work as higher grade clerk whoreceive several hun- ¢red dollars more for their services than the amount pamel.
