A NEW JUKOR SWORN I GOES This morning, in the Crimina! Mr. Hopkins, the sfek juror, on account of AND THE TRIAL whose indisposition the éourt could not pro ered with the case on Friday and Saturday last, was still absent. Mr. Cook suggested, to save time, that a stipulation be made to goon with eleven Jurors, or another juror might be selected in ihe place of Mr. Hopkins, the jury resworn, and the testimony up to this time be read to them. He would have authorities on the subject in a few minutes. Mr. Wilson suggested that the first prop- osition was pot correct, as eleven could not constitute a jury, and the prisoner could take advantage of it. Mr. Warrick was therefore directed to stand aside, and Mr. Patrick Sweeny was called in © box. Grittin, Edwin’ C. Baum, P. Ryder, —— Dent, Gideon W. Larner, Wi Titian B. Moses, Jas. McDermott, Jos. A. Simms and Daniel Loughran. The court directed the testimony to be real to the jury from the reporter's notes—about 500 pages of legal cap—and after some delay Mr. Wilson commenced the reading, and was followed by Mr. Cook. This consumed the entire day.
