He might, by hard work, be able to carry one state.” Somehow, they don’t seem to be happy out in Obio. } Prof. Hartshorne, of the University of Pennsylvania, read a paper before the American Public Health Association in Session at Baltimore Tuesday setting forth the fact that the sanitary conditions exist- ing at watering places are very unfavorable to health for several reasons. A real danger exist in connection with the possible con- tamination of drinking water by soil satura- tion with ordure and house drainage at such resorts. The atmosphere is rendered bad under the influence of excretory matter, and the crowd breeds fevers and other forms of malady. He believed that mortuary statis- ties would show that the death rate at water- ing places is unusully large.
