Seventeen wards /n Baltimore gave Carroil (dem. ) for governor, 15,02 ma- jority. The majority for the balance of the State ticket is avont the same. The cwo other conservatives for the senate, Tanner and Wortham, are elected by much larger majorities. Retucns from fifty-four precincts in different counties show increased majori- Ues for the conservaties, whose gains in many cases are large. Therepnblicans show ouly small gains, aud in few instances. It is impossible to estimate the extent of the independent movement, as the returns are loo meagre.
