She screams for beip, and Mrs. Mary Milligan, who occu- pied the attic story of the house, extin- guished the flames. Dr. Draper was sum- loned, and on his arrival pronounced the woman's condition exceedingly dangerous, if not fatal, and did all that medical skill could avail to afford ber relief. She re- mained insensible nearly all of yesterday, and Dr. Draper deemed her case sich a crit- feal one that he would not give his opinion as to whether the injuries would prove fatal or not, bat advised that her ante-mortem statement be taken, which was done about seven o'clock last evening by Justice Tay- lor, in the presence of Lieutenant Greer, Dr. Draper. and others. The statement was sub- stantially as given above. Sergeant Guy and Officer Draper took charge of the prem- ises, and the police were notified to look out for Cherry, whohad made bis eseape. Ye terday morning about 5 o'clock Officers Jef- fries and Shilling found him coming out of Nalior’s alley, on Lith sirect, and arrested him. She screamed murder, police, help. and he didn’t know what else, but, her action so surprised him that thoughtlessly he dropped the lump upon her head, inflicting the wound she received, and the’ explosion following caused the many severe burns | from which she now snifers.
