WHAT THE HEALTH BOARD WANT. The Roard of Health were hefore the A’ propriation Committee of the House this Morning urging the usual annual appropria- tion for the e: of the Board. and an ap- Propriation of 31 clot seare. to pay claimants for destroyed during the small pox y Committee requested the Board to send them a letter setting forth fully the needs of the Board. THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE DISTRICT were heard by the House Appropriation Commitiee this morning in the interest of the following appropriations: $77,765 for the Fire department and Board of Health S$46.292.70 to refund to the District above amount for salaries paid by the Commis- sioners which are properly chargeable to the United States; S86.500 for the erection of Georgetown school building. FUTURE GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT. In the Senate to-day, Mr. Morrill, of Maine. made a motion that the Senate take @ recess from 5to 7 o’cloek, and at the even- ing session his bill for the better zoveroment of the District of Columbia be takerup. The Motion was lost by a vote of 15 to2). Mr. Morrill called for the ayes and noes, and said that the close of the session is rapidly ay proaching and time is getting precious. Was, therefore, surprised to notice a dist nation on the pare of Senators to conside the bill in question, expecially in view of the urgent necessity-for the pas: some other measnre for the Distri ators did not want any bill passed.
