This is ascribable to the fact that on Monday morning John Francis Schnei- der, a child three years and cleven months old, died from the effects of @ bite received trom & dog just seven weeks and one dai Previous, The attending physician, Dr. Lew jackall, ir., has prepared @ lengthy article upon the subject in general and this case in particular, and has read it before the medical society. On the Ivth of Angust the dog, which had ordina- tily played with the child im the yard of the father, Mr. J. C. Schneider, displayed nervous end ratuer vicious symptoms, and consequently waa chained up. Unknown to its parents, the child approached the dog, when he was at once bitten on the fleshy portion of bis right leg, be- low the knee. His erles alarmed the inmates of the house, and the dog was instantly killed. Upon examination it was found that apparently only one tooth had actually entered the flesh to any depth. Extereal Spo ications were mate, and the child was running about in a day or two.
