One would suppose that the wood pavement would be pleasanter to their feet, through its | elasticity, but st would seem that there is too much vibration abont it to suit them, and they ways put their feet down upon it with a cer- tadn degree of hesitancy or tenderness, as they | @ in going over a bridge.
