Gillette, of Westtield, is the last of the long list named who declines. ‘The republicans had better return to their old representative, Mr. Dawee, and induce him to withdraw his refusal to stand again. Dawes would get the intelligent vote of his dis- trict, without regard to party lines. New Ergland is very mach inclined as a mat- ter of persona! pride to stand by Beecher and the Beecher family, but the Springtield R-pub. | lican, which is rather outspoken on most mat- | ters, says, in summing up the pros and cons be- tween Moulton and Beecher “From all thi except in one direction what is called the psycho! The country and the Congregational churches cannot submit to the return of this man to his pulpit amid theacclaim ot his parish, after the report of an ex-paite committee.
