Mr. Choste was a native ot the eastern part of the state of Maine, and in early life fellowed the sea. He came here about 40 years ago and established himself in business. Hewas a qnict estimable citizen, and it is not known that he had an enemy. He was a’cousin of the Hon. Kufus Choate and aiso related by marriage to Ir. Thos. Sewall, father of the late Kev. Dr. Sewall, of the M. E.church. He married a danghter of the late Solomon Drew. of this city, who survives him,with six children, Warren being the eldest. In former years he was avery active member of the Masonic order, holding bis membership in Federal Lodge, No. 1, and Columbia K. A. Chapter. Browne entered a suit for Mary Elizabeth Seitz for a divorce from the ber ds of matrimony with Henry Seitz. She sets forth that she married defendant on June 28th, 1866, in Baltimore, and they lived together un- til the Jd of August last, when he deserted her. She states that during the last three years be bas trequentiy been intoxicated, and bas beaten and otherwise ill-treated her. The same attorney entered a suit in the name of Charina Maria Modena against Dominica di Modena for a divorce. She sets forth that at the age of thirteen years, on the jlst of Angust, 1962, she was married to defendant by Kev. J- A. Walter, at St. Patrick’s church; that she lived with him three months when they separ- ated, and he sailed for Europe, thereby wilfully deverting her; thr’ she has not seen or heard directiy from him or the last seven years, but believes be is living. Board ef Health, MODIFICATION UF REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO VITAL STATISTICS—REPORT OP THE HRALTR OFFICER—MORTUARY EEPORT—PINANCIAL ETATEMEST. At a meeting of the Board of Health last night report fiom the committee on ordi- vances was adopted, modifying the regulations for collecting the data for vital statistics in ac- cordance with the suggestions submitted by the committee from the Medical Association of the District of Columbia. The report states that physicians required under the eighth regulation to register their names, &c., do so upona license received from a chartered}medical society, or pon a diploma received trom medical schoo! ot institution. The wor?s “physical condition” used in the statute, and embodied in the third regulation, is tobe defized to mean the general hysical condition, whetber healthy or un- Beaithy. Bat in no case will the board require, in the enforcement of this rule, that stck-bod or confidential communications made * ! \ to z° sicians be revealed in the report required y this third regulation. The committee recom- mend that on and after the 15th day of this month, by which time all physicians may ha‘ Fogutared, according to the requirements of the board, the regulation in regard to penalties be rigidly enforced; and that up to that date the regulation with regard thereto, as far as any violations thereof have occurred, and as far as this board is concerned, as prosecators of the same, be not enforced. The condemnations were 2,100 crabs, 600 clams, 56 bunches fish, 16 poands pounds veal, 15 pounds routton,7 pounds pork, 127 pounds bacon, 164 bushels beans, one baif bushel beets, 9 dozen cucumbers, 4 egg plants, 3 bushels tomatoes, 235 heads cabbage, dozen corn, 231 watermelons, 1,070 canta- s,&c. MORTUARY RECORD. The weekly statement of the registrar of vital Statistics was submitted, showing the number of deaths at 74; white 29, colored 45. Prominent among the causes of death were diarrhea, dis- evtery, cholera infantum, inanition, consump- tion, trismus nascentium, aud pneumonia. The marriages reported are 7, and births 54. Tue Bescugse Scanpat.—The New York Times of yesterday says that so threadbare has the subject now become that even the local or- gans of the combatants on both sides have little to say in relation to the case. It is by no means certain, however, that the qnestion has been finally disposed of. Moulton's statement is expected on Wednesday or Thursday, after which Mr. Tilton will sum up the case in a | Yoluminous document, and then, by the time the public bave got through with these state- ments, the case will be broaght into the courta, and all the evidence already taken, and a great deal more, will be again brought to bear apon the subject. It is stated that among the doca- ments which will be published in Mr. Mou!ton’ fortheoming statement will be a letter from Mr. Beecher, written on the 28th of July last, which contains some important passages.
