Tse Govanyxsnt Svurrs_Acatrst Mort- Yox's Frum.—The suits commenced against Woodruff, Robinson & Co., of Brooklyn, N. ¥., by the government to recover the valuc of goods alleged to have been fraudulently with- drawn from the warehouse, bave been discon- | tinued on the payment of the full amount due the government. The penalty has been re- | ceived and disposed of in such a manner that the case cannot again be reopened without the action of Congress. This is the firm of which Moulton is a member. Tee Buitien Lecatiox—The report that Sir Edward Thornton, the British Minister, is to be recalled is not true. He has taken passage for the United States and is expected in Wash- ington about the Ist of October. Lady Thornton will not retarn this winter, but will remain at home with her children, who are to finish their education in Europe. NE MILLION ACRES AT STAKE. ck, KANSAS, August 22.—A letter Teceivea here yesterday from Judge Dillon av- bounces the decision of the United Ststes cir. cuit court in the famous Osage ceded lands case im favor of the settlers. This case covers the title to nearly one million acres of land, on which are located the homes of 30,090 people, claimed by the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Galveston and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas railroad componies.
