Williamson, was ploughing in his feld be turned ups young e tree that be had planted in the fall. He stoop- ed to pick it up, when he heard a singing noise urder seme brush in a corner of fence. He pushed aside the brush and saw a huge rattle- tnske. He jerked up a rail and commenced striking at"the serpent. Unfortunately, how- ever, be got too near the snake, which sprang at him and buried its fangs in the caif of his leg. Mr. Williamson fipally killed the veno- mous reptile. One of his employes reached him about that time and found his leg greatly swollen. He carried him home and gave him stimulants freely, but without avail. The sufferer died in afew minutes. Mr. Williamson was a methodist minister and much esteemed in the community. The snake which caused Mr. Williameon’s death was ten feet long, with eighteen rattles ands button.—Augus'a (Ga.
