The new British Parliament will meet on the Sthof March. The Parliament which has been dissolved by Queen Victoria at the instance. of as the eighth of her reign, and meton the lth of December, 1803. It would not have attained the constitutional limit of seven years until 1575, but since 1826 only one Parliament has existed for more than six years. The longest Parliament recorded in English history was that elected in 1061, which existed nearly 17 years; and the shortest, thet elected in 1890, which only lasted five months and twenty-sx days. The House of Commons now consists of 655 members, of whom 493 are from England and Wal ) from Scotland, and 105 from Ireland. Some contend that as the President has courteously extended the governor an invitation to do so he Ought to accept since the visit would be merely & friendly one and devoid of political signifi- cance.
