The Coroner informed the prisoner that he could make @ statement or not as he chose. ‘Temple then said that Pollard had threatened to strike him; that he had been continually tantalizing him, and he considered that he had sufficient provocation for what he did. He could get witnesses, but he would not say any more tow. Dr. J. F. Hartigan, who made a post mortem examination, testified that death was caused by @ wound on the left temple, fracturing ihe skull, the fracture extending upwards. Addis, the well-known photographer, who has for some years conducted the Addis gallery on Pennsyl- vania avenue, near 13th street, died suddenjy at his residence, 127 © street northwest, and preparations were made for the fune: which was to take place Monday afternoon. The brother of the deceased arrived on Saturday night, and the family, being apprehensive that the body would not keep until Monday without becoming very offensive, made the necessary reparations for an earlier funeral, and the body was therefore imerred at Congressional (Mr. Byrgdorf!) being furnished with a certiti- cate signed John Bray, M. D. Some of the neighbors and friends of the deceased thought and called on Coroner Patterson a few days | after the intern nt, who caused the body to be | exhumed, and it was removed to Mr. Bargdorifs | establishment, and a post mortem was made.
