The St. Louis Repubiican, one of the doubt- ing democratic newspapers, does not see a sign of democratic revival in the Ohio election. ‘That state went for Pierce in 1552, it says, but ‘bas never cast a democratic electoral vote for President from that day to this, and never will again.” The democrats elected the gov- ernor in 1863 and the election of Mr. Allen is the second time the y have carried the state in eleven years. The New York Tritune also, advises the “Bourbon element of the democratic party” not to lose ite head over its «partial success in Ubio.” The democrats, the Tribune says, have ‘hieved something like success the year fol lowing the Presidential election ever since 1370.
