Of this number 26,175 were held for » ‘The Office Scratch Book, received from Philp & Solomons, is at institution, serving as a lank book and memorandum book. It is cheap, portable, just the thing. Mr. L. S. Smith, a watchman at the Post Office department, has resigned, and Mr. Jere- miah Lee has been appointed in his place at a compensation of $720 per annum. The case of the estate of the late policeman ‘Thomas Price, {Lyons,) in the Probate Court, has been post, oned to next Tuesday week. It will be remembered that two wicows are claim- ing Priee’s estate. Fie Medial Society of the Alumni of the Georgetown College held its regular meeting last night, when the president of the society read an interesting paper on gun shot wounds. Messrs. Z. Richards, J. R. Hopkins, Marvin, Eastwood, W. H. Bai'ey, und H. T. Wiswall yes- terday filed a certificate of incorpo: trustees of the “‘North Baptist church,” located on Mth street, between R and S streets. The National Sportsmen's club of the District of Columbia, held a meeting last night and elected the following officers: M. Alexander, resident; Frank Rives, vice president, M. A- ‘appan, secretary; James M. Mason, treasurer; A_N. Marr and Thomas Upperman, directors. By an acckiertal error of the examiners, the medal for spelling in the advanced grade ‘sec- ondary school of the second district was an- neunced as awarded to Sophia Dahler, of No. 10, instead of Louise Prinzhorn, of the same school, who won and will receive it. eee Me bench Brite Assocration.—Last evening the third annual meeting of the Franklin Coopera- tive Building Association was held at Masonic Temple, and the annual report was presentad, showing receipts: $121,008.38, includ which ‘were $31.906.05 from dues on stock and £66 ,0725.95 settlements on 79% shares; disbursements, $110,710.46, leaving @ balance of #10,2%.92 in the ands, including #7, the April meeting; $96,900 was vances on %.6shares. If the Indians got uf a drama for an Indian audience they would probably present the -‘war of extermination” in a light mere in accordance with Captain Jack’s ideas. Anyhow the audience at Wall's Opera House last night seemed to greatiy admire the dexter- ous way in which Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack hanaled their pistols and threw their lasses, showing @ facility with both weapons which would make it lively for a real opponent. The ease, too, with which the athletic Buftale Bill picks up a Bundred and fifty pound dead Indian y the belt and carries him off as if he was a kitten, shows there is no make believe about the hero's muscle. There was a large audience present last evening, and the frequent and ‘arty applause testified that all were well pleased. — Tre Assactt ox THE Boy Lacty—Arrest ef Charles Dean, Charged with Fracturing Lacey's Skuii with en Oar—Charles Dean, the young man who is charged with having struck the boy Lacey with an oar on Sunday afternoon while boating on ihe river, and seriously if not fatal- ly injuring him, (an account of which oceur- rexce was published in Tux Star of yesterday,) Was arrested —— afternoon on an old scow near the Long Bridge by Ufficer Leach, of the first precinct, and was taken to the station. house.
