I was governed in my statement by the fact that some of the smalier cities, whese postmasters conduct both branches with one set of clerks, accom- modated prople during the usnal business hours. J still contend, aud “P. 0.” himselt must admit, that the present arrangement in Wastington excludes thousands from the ad- vantages of the system who are justly entitled to it. Of all the larger cities he named, none has an equal number of temporary residents to this city, who have business interests in the various states. The daily appeals at the Post Office here, besides the communications alluded to bs bes O.,” should bave come weight with the Postmaster to extend the hours for the first three or four days of each month, at least, or change them from 8a. m. to 4 p. m. to 10 a. m. and6p.m. That, or aay Sulinn accommola- tion, would be hailed with joy by Many.
