A CLUE onTaryED. ‘The parties in custody were kept in separate celis, and each one was examined separately. On Friday night the detectives obtained infor- mation which led them to suspect that the mur- derer had gone over the Long bridge late on Friday night; and after a consultation yester- day evening they determined to go to Alexan- dria. Detective Coomes had brought in a well- known female, a denizen of Louse Alley, and alter questioning her he found that A CERTAIN NOTORIOUS COLORED THIEF, who lives in Alexandria, but who spends much @i Lis time in this city, had been here during Friday last, and learing all he could of his morements Detective Coomes communicated the facts to the chief and other officers, and the trip to Alexandria was accordingly made late yesterday by Messrs. Claryoe, Miller and MeDevitt. The last train ot cars had left, and anopen barouche was engaged to take tiem over the turnpike, but the condition of the roxd was such that ch Alexandria until about 12:20 this morning, after several hair-breadth escapes from accidents by upset= ting, and at one time nearly over a high em: bankment on the way. A MIDNIGHT RAID ON BUZZARD'S ROOST. On arriving in that city they drove to lice headquarters, and dispatched a messenger at once tothe residence of Captain James i. Webster, who soon appeared. A consultation was held, and the Washington detectives in- formed Otticer Webster that they wanted a col- ored man named Henry Young, who was re- ported to be living with'a disreputable woman on Royal street, ina house known as the « juz ard s Roost.” "Capt. Webster summoned Ofti- cers Henry A. Crump and Gilbert Simpson, aud all started at once towards the place, Capt. W. ieading the way, and assuring our otficers that he and his men would aid them inevery possible manner to ferret ont the parties want- ed. They soon reached the premises, which are but a short distance from the house in which Manly lived, who murdered the clock mender, and for which he was executed on Friday last, the same day on which the murder of Haun took place. After a few moments’ consultation the officers surrounded the house, both back and front, ail Capt. Webster rapped ut the door. Ina moment the window was raised in the second story, and @ may’s voice called out Ss IAT YOU, JOHN?” Captain Webster replied, in re voice, “yes.” The voice replied, “All righ I'll come right down.” In a moment or two Young, the man they wanted, unfastened the door, and all hands walked in, to his great con. sternation. hey, was said at thetime about prego 3 ‘apt. Young was then taken to the station-house, and an examination of his clothing was had, when McDevitt found BLOOD STAINS ON HIS SHIRT FRONT e Feria A rd ait £ ‘morning, and up to let him in, and he went to his room, Lucy Williams not being in the house. Now for THE CONNECTING LINK, which fits in exactly. Mr. McDevitt had al- ready ascertained in Baltimore that the mur- dered man left there on the 7.25 p, m. traiv and arrived in this city about 9 o’elock; that he was very much T the influence of liquor before he left Baltimore; that on arriving here he purchased a ticket to take the last train tor Alexandria before he left the depot; that be walked up 6th street to Pennsylvauia avenue, where, the theory of the officers is, that he fet] in with this colored man, and together they walked as far as Mr. Bacon’sstore. Here three of our citizens saw them together, Hahn being noticed from the fact that HE APPEARED QUITE INTOXICATED, and with his arm locked in with Young’s. Hain was heard to say “this way,” and both turned down towards the American House. The gen- tlemen watched them and saw Hahn enter the American House, and to the bar to get’a drink, while the colo man waited on the out- side looking through the window and leaning up against a post. When Hahn came out the colored man said to him, “WE CAN CROSS OVER THE LOT,” and both started off together towards the place where Hahn was afterwards found murdered. The officers also had the information from the keeper of the tavern on the Virginia end of the Long bridge that at 12.30 a. m. on Saturday morning he was called up by aman who wanted a drink of whisky. On coming down and THE PRISONER AGAIN SHOWS THE CHECK. He then pulled out a check, and, handing it to the proprietor, he asked “is that good in Alexandria 2”? ‘The landlord replied that -‘he thought it was. Young asked ‘‘what time do the banks ope and the landlord replied that the usual hour was 9 o'clock. He then asked for a cigar, aud took ont a picce of paper from his pocket’ cov- ered with fine writing, and asked what that was. The proprietor, not caring to be bothered with him, after casually scanning if, said he dd not know. The proprietor, thinking the cireum- stances about the check rather unusual, took @ food look at it, and was able to remember that t was drawn in fayor of F. Hahn, being on a Diank of the Western National Bank of ‘Baiti- more, nuzobered 442 and the amount #321.12.
