The Elections To-morrow. ‘To-morrow comes the tug of the October elec- tions in the great states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana Tm 1865 it was conceded in ad- vance by both partics that the resalt of the Gctober elections in these three states woul! decide the national resalt in November. This year the conditions are somewhat different, because while the loss of two of these states wil be recognized by the Greeley party as fatal to their hopes in November, the republican party view of ferce local dissensions in at least one tates, and also of the fact that the out democratic disaffection to Greeley est itself mal u November, will t as decisive a re to carry two of etober. A heavy majority against three of the states to-morrow, will of t question, but should the noe, carry Obio, and make same in Pennsylvania and Indiana, ckle on t! armor for a desperate posseseion of ihe fleid in November case before the September elections, s express unbounded confidence of . the resnits showed that the con_ Tepublicans was well founded, ust of their opponents seems to have on rose-colored hopes rather than on any scund data, or good judgment. There is he good reason to doubt that the republican es- timates pow are as sound and carefully made as they were for the September elections, and there is po reason why more confidence should be 1 im the liberal estimates than then. Discounting, then, the local disaffections in Pennsylvania, the divisions among the Germans in Chio, and the close division of parties in In- diana, it seems not ont of bounds to expect that the republicans will carry Pennsylvania to- morrow by not less than fifteen thousand ma- jority on the test-qnestion of Jadgeof the Su- preme Court and Congressman at large (electing Hartranft at the same time by @ fair majority;) and that they will carry Ohio by at least twelve thousand majority, and Indiana by from two to three thonsand majority. an -see- e subject of the heating and ventilation of school-rooms, a writer in the Chicago Tribune notes the fact that the pupils of the public | ls whore the buildings are heated by steam ed and headaches On as soen ss the cool weather reqnires the tires to New York, Oct. 1.—The stock and money markets are unsettled.
