Other witnesses corroborated the above. ‘The jury returned a verdict that “‘the said Bridget Gleason came to her death between the hours of 3 and 4 o'clock p. m.,on the 15th day of June, in the year 1872, on the premises of her daughter-in-law, corner of 20th and L streets, in the city of Washi 3; and they further fing that the cause of the death of the said Bridget Gleason was congestion of the brain, superinduced by violence and cruelty at the hands of Bridget A. FRIGHTFUL EXPLOSION ON A SPANISH STBAMER — Fifty-five Persons Killed. —The Spanish steamship Guadayea, while lying in ihe harbor of Marseilles yesterday, with her passengers on board, exploded her boiler, tear- ing to pieces the entire upper portion of the ship. Of those on board but tew escaped death 'y. Forty-four passengers and eleven of icers and crew were killed. Immediately after the explosion the steamer took fire, and the flames communicated to the dock, and a serions conflagration was threatened. Severa! hundred bales of cotton were consumed, when the flames were subdaed. THE DRANESVILLE (Va.) STARuING Case.
