By turning to paze 128 of the thirteenth revised edition of this work, thoy will perceive that the Gettysburg Spring cf scme eicht years of age is classed with the European Vichy and Pyrmont, as many hundred years old; in other words, is assigned the forem ist renk among the great aqueous medicines of the world. This work is keot by all draggi: We prefer that allwho read this advertisement shall examin® it as @ pricaution against deception After having done so they will be better prepared to credit the testimony of practicing physi ciacs, of medical writers and medical journal- iste, to its great and varied curative powers. We can only brieily refer to the specifications of the onrative virtues of the Gettysburg Waters by thove authorities. We will precede these references by « axotaticn from the remarks of Dr. Bell American physician and medical author, upon the +n eminent new semi-therageutical and chemical power discov- ered in this water, that of dissolving calculus or stone in the human system. As the stony particles or concretions known as calculus, and the excess of acids which produce them, are ascertained to be the remote or immediate canse of our prevalent chronic maladies, if nct, indeed, of all diseases, it logically resuite that the Gettysburg Water must be the most extensive remedial agency ever known to the rave. Whether it ix soor not, let medical men decide. Dr. Gell thus refers to its solution of one of the forms of caccnlus, that Known as “chalk-stones,” or the Nedosities of Rheumatirn and Gout : “Recourse to all known therapeutical agents and modes of tre tuenut are ineffectual beyond, some- times, a reduction of the size of the nodes of a gouty or rheumatic ratare by absorption of @ part of the outer and investing structura. But the en tire removal of the isorganic body withont sar- gical intervention, has not, we believe, hitherto been brought about ly either interaal remodivs or ¢xternal applications, or by both united. In tho case now under notice, we cannot believe that the absorbents would bo equal to the task of sucking up, as it were, the deposited inorganic matter, unless this deposit had been subjected to the solvent action of the blood brought to the part by the delicate ca piilaries. Whence comes this solvent property?
