In response to the questions of Mr. Schurz as to discrepancies in the statements of the Secreta- ries of the Treasury and of War as to the amounts received from the sale of arms, Mr. ‘Wilson said there was no deficiency for any ear, and the apparent discrepancies arose frot he fact that the money was not received by the ‘Treasurer until after the date he commenced to make up his report. He repeated that there was nothing ! im all this; that not one farthing had the government lost, and that no taint attached to any officer of the government.
