The principal objection to the Warren | geography is that (the author having dicd over | ten years Sy the publishers still continue to use ‘the old stereotyped plates from which the text, ps and questions printed, and thus their beok has fallen ‘behind the tmes.” This, of. course, is a ‘Very profitable business for book publishers; for, although they nge the litle page to conform ‘to the current 7 make the corrections in the y changes in political organiza- ries of countries, axd_on account of recent discoveries. This style of imposition upon the publie is encouraged by the existence in most boards of edacation, as in onrs, of what is termed the two-third rule, which requires the vote of two-thirdset the trustees to favor the change of a book before it can be made. A publisher, once ge*ting in his book, lies quietly down ant waits for the annual flow of dollars into his pocket, hy simply iesuing new impres- sions from his old plates. Another matter that helps this imposition is, that there is a very natural objection on the part of teachers, trus- tees and parents to any change of books.’ Most parents think that one book is just as good as another. this ik a8 great a mistake as to suppose that one mode of instruction is just as good as another. | teachers Prowrr Extiy morning, ab H.
