About three hundred turned out in full regalia, making a handsome appear- ance. After passsng through the drill exercise and inspection by the eminent commanders, the line of march was taken up down Indiana ay- enue to 3d sireet, thence to Pennsylvania av- enue, and up the avenue to 10th street, up 10th street to F, and down F to the Masonic Temple, when they broke ranks. A large number of the Knights met at their asylum this afternoon at 239 o’clock, and pro- ceeded to the Baltimore and Ohio railroad depot to escort the Detroit Commandery to their quar- ters in the National Hotel; after which, they will again proceed to the depot to do honors to the celebrated St. John’s Commandery, of Phil- adelphia, whom they will also conduct to the National. The strangers will to-morrow visit Mount Vernon, and upon their return will again be taken in charge by the Washingtonians, who Will escort them to the depot, where the visitors Will take the train for Baltimore. Next Thursday, at $a. m.,the Knights of the District will leave for Baltimore, where they will take part in the grand parade In that city on that day. The Grand Encampment will vist this city on Friday next, having been invited by our Knights, who will act as escorts, and pre- parations have been made to make everything comfortable for the distinguished guesis durin, their visit. On their arrival they will procec up Pennsylvania avenue to the White Hone, and in returning, Governor Cooke will review them at the St. James Hotel. The Knights wil then proceed to the Masonic Temple, where a banquet will be given. All objects of interests in the city, incinaing the public buildings, will then be visited by the strangers. One of the at- tractive features of the parade will be the marching drill of the Knights, forming ero.«s and the like, exmblematic of their order. may be leoked forward to with pleaser: anxiety, as it ‘s said their movements wil executed in a very beautiful manner. The Maronic Temple will be decorated with flags, as also will the homes of many of the Knights. A delegation of Beacon Loge, No. 15, 1.0. O. F., of which the deceased was a member, was present. Mr. Ould was nearly half a century ago a teacher of the school at the corner of ith and G streets, then known a= the Western Lancasterian School, and many of our oldest citizens were taught by him to “ read write and cipher.” Mr. Edward Towers, another well known citi- zen, died at an early hour yesterday morning at his residence, No. 315 15th street S. W., in the €hth vear of bis age, after an illness of one week. t.
