Serenade to the Officers— Presentation of a Medal te President Welf, and the Drinking Horn to the So ngerbund. The closing of the sixth annual fest of the Washington Schueizen Verein took piace last night. The members of the organization as- sembled at their headquarters, on D street, be- tween 6th and 7th, and at 10 o'clock marched, te the music of Donch’s band, to the residence ef the new Schuetzen King, Mr. John back, on K street, between 7th and &th, where the band played several Pleces, snd, after cheers for the new kin; loiterback rard dre aetzen uniform wearing king’s badge. He welcomed the members in an appropriate manner, after which they were invited into the nm in the rear, where tables were spread with a bountiful Fupply of sandwiches, wines and lager beer. King Schlotterback took his seat at the head of the table, with President Wolf and Viee Presi- gent Engel at his right, and after the guests had been seated Mr. Wolf filled the king's goblet and drank to the health of the new king, the members loudly Nene ot The goblet was then handed to Mr. Engel. who drank to the queen’s health, the company rising and cheering the qneen Waiter the banquet was over the company filcd Out in line in srent, and merehod to ike resi- dence of Mr. S. Here the bund p'ayed some of their choice mvsic, and the Sangerbrnd sang several songs, Mr. Wo'f was callod for, and came for- ward, and was present-d by Vice President En- gel. in the pame of the octeiy, with a magnifi- ernt medal. Mr. Engel, in bis remarks, stated that the jewe' wes offered as astizht testimonial of the extocm in which t'icy held fh-ir president. ‘Mr. Wolf rec ivcd the medal, and in_appropri- ate terms returned his thanks to the Verein. ‘The members chen took up the line of march to the Swenygerbund hall, on the corner of 8th and E sircets. Here Mr. Wolf formally pre- sented the coetly drinking horn which kad been vied to the Sangerbund. Mr. L. Waldecker, president of the Sengerbund, received the tes- timoniai in appropriate terms, and in the name Of bis .ocieiy re. orned thanks for the honor con- ferred upon them. The rest of the evening was then spent in singing, interspersed with music by Poneh’s Band, and the partaking of refresh- ents in the diving-room below. The remains were taken to the chapel, where a short service was conducted by ve Messrs. Smith and Shaw; after which, the coffin ‘was opened, and the assemblage took a last look at the Lody, which was in a perfect state of reservation. As the body was Lars taken in chapel, Messrs. I). L. Burnett, J. B. Lemon, G. F. Johnston and Charles A.
