INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION. INTERESTING OPENING FROCEEDINGS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Address of President John Wannamsker ‘The ratiroad trains to Washington yesterday afternoon apd evening brought to the city several hundred delegates to the International Convention of the Young Men’s Obristian Asso- ciation which met at Lincoln Hall at 10 o’clock this morning, and the committee of arrange- ments of the local organization were kept busy in recetving and iding for the delegates. Se well were all ae arrangements perfected that no difficulty was experienceti in furnishing them with quarters. All the delegates as they strived registered at the bali, and about one hundred seen ot two undred were taken in charge by leading citizens :3 guesis at residences. Other delegates were escorted to the National and W.ilard’s Hotel amd the Ebbitt House, where arrangemen‘s had been made for them. Some of the delegates preter to remain at the hotels, but a large majority have accepted wvitations from our citizens to become theit guests during the session of the convention. At the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association last evening there was quite an interesting time as old acquaintances and delegates to former conven.ions met. Every thing poesibie has been done for the com. ‘ort and piegsure of the delegates, and they are already ressed with the hospitality of our citizens. The President bas issued an order permitting all m:mbers of the Young Men’s Christian Association in government employ teke leave of absence from to-day nutil the 29° inst. inclusive, to attend the sessions of the c vention. ‘The trains this morning brought in an ati- tional number of delegates, and long before the hour of meeting the Scoring, Sr 9 aud other rooms in the Young Men’s Christian Associa- tion building were crowded the delegates avd thelr friends, while on the stairways lead- ing te Lineoin Hall were a large namber of ladies waiting admission. Shortly before 10 o'clock the doors were opened, and it waa not long before the seats on the tloor were crowded with delegates—among them some young colored men—and tho galleries set apart for spectators filled with ladies and gentlemen.
