C., last night, and waa pre- sided over by the president, Mr. Jos. Harry. ‘The meeting was ecddressed by Mr. Anderson, yor W. S. Morse, Mr. Green, and Gen. E. ©. tington. Gen. Carrington said that they e called upon to meet their ancient politie foe, the ra:dlical democratic party, under its new form and new name of conservative, adopted and designed to decetwe the weak and iguoravt, and secure the support of the old whi 1 conservative rep»blicans. He argued republican party was the true con- servative party, and referred to its history, and what it bad done, contrasting it with the radical democratic party. He argued that the democratic party as at present constituted, was the real radical party. Hes of the candidates, of Mr. Merrick as wyer, eloquent advocate, and gallant gentleman; but be was associated with a party which could not bear the test of examination, for it was the most proscriptive and dangerous party that ever rose, reigned, or fell. He said that he hal known Gen.
