Particulars of the Recent Sorties. w Was Gained by the Beseiged. A correspondent of the New York Tribune, at the headquarters of the Saxon army, gives « detailed account of the recent sortie of the Par- isians, from which we learn that the German troops engaged and immediately supporting amounted to 22,000 men. This force, it seems, bad been detailed for an offensive movement, and the programme was greatly complicated by the unexpected counter-offensive movement of the French Projected against Villiers, and with hopes of ultimately breaking through the cor- don surrounding them. It th: ppened that, as the Germans were Pigsine, to drive the French out of Brie and Chamgigny, the French were simultaneously pourin; it to take Vil ers. [¢ was im and around villages, Bri Villiers, and Champigny, that THR BLOODY DRAMA was enacted. When the curtain fell on that drama the Saxons stood fast in Villiers; but Brie and Champigny, lying close under the guns of Fort Nogent, and the strongly ai earth- works at Kaisontrie, remained in the bands of the French. The French 1(ithin a rapid rash in the morning, surprised the occupants of Brie, some asleep, others drnking coffee. There was a trifling resistance. Nearly 500 prisoners were taken, including eight officers. AT CHAMPIGNY, {am informed, that the Wirtembergers, after desperate fighting, had driven the French out not long after § o'clock, to be in turn subjected to violent attack and partial expulsion. The sharpsphooters dashed into the thicket, linin, the feot of the rising ground, and scram)! through. The troops behind them followed— serried column. From behind Villiers several German) regiments came out to the right of the brow of the hill under the shell fire. As the French came up the gentle aclivity, the guns of the forts continued playing without interrup- tion. So narrow was the margin between the combatants that I question much whether a shell or two did not fall in the French ranks. The line was formed, rear files closing up at the double-quick, and ina twinkling less than fifty yatds separated the combatants. Then came & volley, then sharp firing by file, and the French nd gave ground, only to get back to the *xt dip of the ground, to let the guns of the fort go to work again. The Saxons had to find what cover they might. When the regiments came hack—they had not been gone 20 minutes— 35 officers out of the 45 had gone down. About 1 o'clock the French made ANOTHER ADVANCE, having received considerable reinforcements. ‘The Saxon infantry confronted them with the wg hack across the north d, the Saxons pushing lard, the French ever and anon rallying. On this pesition of the plain, soa\h of Brie, there was a prolonged struggle. The combat- ants parted about 3 o'clock, both sides falling back. The fire of the fort continued some little time longer.
