The Relief Meeting Last A meeting of citizens was held last night at ‘Trades’ Union Hall for the purpose of taking measures to afford material aid to the sufferers by the late freshet in Virginia. Dr. J. B. Blake was called to the chair, and Mr. H.C was chosen se: and treasurer. stated the object for which they had assembled, and gave a graphic account of the loss of life and property, stating that it had been estimated by competent judges that in the Shenandoah Valley alone $10,000,000 worth of property hed been destroyed, in many cases reducing fami- lies to actual want. These people must have mears to live during the coming inclement sea- son, and it became all truly charitable people bad ta their hands into their pockets for their relief.
