Tue Funpinc BiLt.—The Conference Com- mittee on the funding bill had another meeting this morning, and hada lengthy discussion, but came to no conclusion. They will hold another meeting this evening and the impresajon is that they will agree upon a report. The principal point of difference has béem upon the interest clause; the Senate Committee urging 4 and the House 4 per cent. The Senate Committee is also in favor of foreign agencies to negotiate the logan, and the House Committee is opposed to that clause. A MORNING cotem| is misinformed in announcing that Col. 8. B. Dick has been nom- inated to Congress by the Kepublicans of the 20th district of Pennsylvania, which district is now represented by Hon. C. W. Gilfillan. The nominating convention in that district does not meet until the latter part of August. One-half of the conferees to the convention are ins‘ructed for the present incumbent, and his renomina- tion may be regarded as quite certain. Mr. Gilfillan ts an efficient member of the House Committee on the District, and his renomina- tion would give great satisfaction here. Tue Army BILt, as it passed the Senate, makes the usual appropriations for the support of the army, and has as an amendment a modifi- cation of the reeently defeated bill to reduce the army. One of the principal changes is the restoration of the old pay roll, so that the sala- ties of Generals Sherman and Sheridan remain untouched. The provisions for retiring and mustering out officers are the same as hereto- fore, which will make the maximum of the army a year hence about thirty thousand men, and cut down the expenses ef the military establish- ment four millions of dollars a year.
