Bowen has been to-day nominated for re-election as Mayor by that portion of the nominating Convention engmeered by the City Hallring. This nomination wouldseem to be ene of those dispensations of blindness and fatuity which it i# said the gods visit upon those they wish to destroy; but the Ring had no other course to pursue. Their desperate for- tunes were bound up with those of Mr. Bowen, and their last chance of retaining thetr hold upon power and the spoils was in his re-elec- tion. It is not necessary to recapitulate the causes which make Mr. Bowen to-day the most un- popular and most unavailable candidate that could be nominated; but the fact is demon- strated most unmistakeably, if that demonstra- tion were needed, by the satisfaction with whic his nomination was received by those who wish AID Le ai mal, mesting of a number of busin = a ee toa was Fewtveat at sCcontrivations be | aid of the suf ity at Bichmond, | st. and "Bastin Hancineton: ip axe National Ban! iy Suen "near Bets Ba. of Ord. a orien oe eke es in vdog Aston "t to defeat him, and with him the detested City Hall Bing. It is notorious that some of the bitterest opponents Mr. Bowen has on earth voted for Bowen delegates yesterday, in order that he might be nominated and defeated. it issurprising that Mr. Bowen has not rea- lized this state of things, but it would seem that he bas given ear to the ring parasites who sur- springy ond lor sale at great reduction fram former round him and who have persuaded him that | Tats, at the same system of manipulation and terro- MILBURN’S, ism which they have employed with success UPPOSITE U. 8.
