D., who died at Boston on Monday morning,’as a divine and an author Aad more than a local reputation. It was not until he was 25 years old that he entered the Baptist ministry. He tirst had charge of a ehureh in Portemouth, N. Mr. J claimed that the right of the city in the im- provement of the private property was affected by this obstruction, and the government had a right to show thisinjury. Mr. Cox argued that the stoppage of citizens of free ingress on the highways was the only thing which could be in- ae * gd in this case. The question was opped. Mr. E. J. Klopfer, ‘Witness was clerk sworn.— for various mayors tor a long time. There was a conflict between the Baltimore and Ohio Rail- road Company in 1856. Witness thinks that mn 1856 a Lapeer rt to en Pa pe — a eastern boundary of the city. Mayor Magruder executed that work, and notified the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company to conform to the grade. The railroad company neglected to do ‘80, the Mayor directed an officer of the corpora- tion to take the whole police force there—con- sisting of twenty men—and abate the nuigance. This, ever, Was unnecessary, for the rail- = company altered the road to conform to \e grade. ‘liam Forsythe, recalled:—Witness corrob- orated the statement of the preceding witness as to the transactions of the Baltimore and Ohio — during the mayoralty of Mr. Magru- r.
