This Board, ck con. | trols all works of internal improvement, is composed o1 the Governor, the Comptroller of | the Treasury, and the State Treasurer. Gov. Howie, of course, stands by the Baltumore and Potomac railroad, but it 1s understood that the | Baltimere and Ohio railroad interest achieved 2 triumph in the nomination of Mr. Woolford , #3 the Democratic cundidate for Comptroller, ‘The point im contest between the two railroad snterests then 1s to secure the third, controling Yote in the Board, that of the State Treasurer. Kobert Fowler candidate of the Balti- more and Obio railroad interest, and Joba Merryman of the Baltimore and Potomac rail- rosd for Treasurer. The Legisiature to be chosen next week elects the Treasurer, and consequently these great ra:read interests are straining every nerve to get control of that body through the election ot members.
