On removing the upper purt.on of the skull he found four or five flaid ounces of blood. Near the top of the head thers was & depressed fracture about two inches in length. Thelungs were found to be heaitay. but collapsed, the collapse being probably caused by excessive hemorrhage and the shock. The other organs were healthy. The stomach wes sound, and contained some biood, sup- posed to have been swaliowed. He decribed the condition of the other orgaus, which were ina healthy st The cruse of deatn was from hemorrhage, shock ana of the brain. The wounds were made by more than one imstrument. The wounds in tha facs were not necessarily fata’. A wound on the lip was the lowrst wound on the body. He also held an sntopsy with ovhers on tie body of Luc Nicholas, who was from twer*y-five o thirty years of age. In this case the injuries were ccnfined to the head aad face, on which there were fifteen wounds. Thess was a compound fracture of the rigbi malar aud @ compound depressed tracture of the right perital bone. ‘There were three or four ounces of fluid blood om the brain uhder a fracture. The lungs were collapsed, bat other- ‘wise healthy, 9s were the heart, Jiver, and other organs. The cause of death ia this case wa from, compaeision of the brain and loss of ico. Witness asked ‘what he had done it for. and be replied that they had threatened to kill him. He also stated that jt was about 6 oF 7 o'clock when he com- mitied the deed. Lieutenant J. W.
