Arnold appears in rather delicate health, but Spangler 1g well, and both seem in good spirits. After their trial and sentence. they reached the Dry Tortugas with Dr. Muda, their late fellow- Prisoner and OU Laughlin, who died during imprisopment, on the 2th of July, 1-5, and were released on the Yd of March, | 1569. During the rage of yellow fever in '867 ai the fort, they state that nearly all the troops had been atiacked and either recovered or died. Dr. Madd, who bad labored among the sick. was taken dowm with the disease, and there being no medict! man lett fit for duty, was nnr-ed by them, (Laughlin baving previously died. During its prevalence there were thirty seven deaths, two of whom were prisoners and the balance officers and soldiers. They received a telegram on the 6th of March in- forming them of their pardon and on the zist, Aruold’s father reached there with the par- dons.
