President Hail presided, and Mr. J. G. Judd acted as Secretary. Rey Mr. Burier submitted a report from the special committee om the application of the Colfax Mission School, propos‘ng a resolu‘ioa “that this Union will coraially welcome two its fellowship ail officers and teichers of mission schoo.s in this city.” to which an amendment Was offered “that the above resolution shail « be construed to admit colored schools into niversary processioa.”” Upon the committee's renort and amendment resolution considerable discussion followed. While im favor of distinct organizations self, yet he would de sll im his power to sid the colored schools tm their advancement as a Gistinet class. Let the question be raised now, And if itis to be contended that the white and colored schools sre to be intersliced ang sand- ‘Wiched together, he should never consent to it. There should de no rule made by which they should be foreed to mix together; uor indeed did he *bink the colored people desired it. For their own good, the colored bad best have their own wnichs; Gnd then if the whites have superior advantages, let them and the colored. Mr, Pratt said that he was Prepared to fayor the adoption of the first resolution, with the understanding that it spp'ied to tne officers and teachers of the schools, and aot the scholars. ‘He fnali; moved thai the whole mtter be laid over until another meeting could be fold at which there would be a larger representatiod gf the members of the Sabbath Sehool Union. The motion was adopted. Mr. White inquired whether, in view gf the hear approach of the regular auniverdiry, it ‘Was Rot Lect sary to make some arramg~ments to procure its success. Already had the South- erm schools of South Wasvington withdrawa from the Sanday School Union, and in all Probability the schools of East Washington ‘would soon follow. This would necessitate some consideration.
