Distcrpances 1x Norte Caro.ixa—An Associated Press dispatch from Wilmington, says. “A diffteulty occurred in Wilson county on Saturday last, between Zeno H. Greene, white, and Daye Ruffin. colored, in which the latter was shot and slightly wounded in the leg. © Was arrested and bound over to appear before the superior court. Afterwards Hull Grimes, the negro president of the Union League, made a long, violent, and incendiary speech to the negroes from the court-houce steps. He and other negroes used threatening language, and prged the killing of whites and the burning of their heuses. About eleven o'clock the same night Greene's barn was dis- covered to been fire, but he and his family ‘were afraid to venture outof their house for tear of being murdered. The negro Grimes was seen near the barn just before the fire broke out, and be was arrested. On trial be- fore a magistrate his guilt was presumptively established, and, in default of jandred dollars security, he was sent to sail.
