Last evening large number of citizens and strangers assembled at Howard University to ‘Witness the Interesting exercises of the Pre- paratory and Normal Departments of the In- stitution, om Oceasion of its first anniversary. ‘The stand was occapied by the Board of Tras- tees, namely: Rev. The little orphans, in their holiday attire, pre- sented a very neat appearance, showing how ‘well they are cared for by the sisters. ‘Their singing Was excellent and loudly applauded.
