A meeting of this assecittien was held last night, but the number in attendance was quite limited—scarcely exceeding a score—among whom were six or seyen females, Mr=. Jo- sepbine Griting called to order and explained the objects of the meeting, taking occasion to make ber usual speech in advocacy of woman's right to the ballot, And ber equality in every respect with the sterner &:¥. Professor Wilcox then took the fidef in ex- Piwmation gt remarks made by him ata pre- vious meeting of the association. A statement. he said, had appeared ina morning regard to the position taken by him, w: incorrect. He did not wish to be’ understood as saying that women were superior to men, (ihe masses of them were the reverse.) but they could and should be put on an equality with men. The association, he thought, was in fayor of all women and men, whether white or black. who could read aud write. being puton the same footing, and all having the elective fran- chise. In reply to a question from a femal auditor, why the mass of temales were interior te males, Mr. Wilcox said that the fact could be proven by their actions in the past. The sex was like a plant raised ma ceilar—cramped and warped—and could not stand the outside pressure of a cold world. ich Mr. J H.Cranealso desired to make a per soual explaination with regard to some re- marks which had been attributed to himin a morning pay From the tenor of that report st would appear that he was in favor of female snitrage, wh as such was not the fact.
