Mr. Dalton @a@+ 6 tes fs other week epltowed the committee appoi: prepare sand Tegelations for me guvernmentof the club, a. mmbers of the commitiee bad been e: with the registration during the past few days. He stated that the various committees of the clud bad not been able to meet, and it was thonghi they would mot get to work until after the registration. Mr Dalton farther stated that be had conferred w th several delegates, who agreed with him that it would be advisa- ble for the central organization to sugzest to the ward clubs to defer the nomination of ward | tickets until after the meeting of the mayoralty nominating con vention; and that some aight se fixed upon for electing the tickets in ali the wards. Mr. Joseph F. son did not understand that the delegates this convention bad anything todo with making nominatioas. Mr. Daiton explained that it was not claimed that the delegates had anything to do with the nominations; but he thought it perfectly proper for the central organization to make any sug- gestion to the ward clubs. He thoagitt t various ward elubs looked to the central or- a for advice as to their action. Mr. ieorge G. Wilson thought the central orgaai- zation bad nothing to de with this subject. It was no busireds of one ward when another should think proper to make the ward nomina- tions. The Chair stated that the club had uo control over the matter, but it would be proper to make any suggestions. Mr. Wilson E. Brown thought the question a very pertinent one, Two years ago he was in the Third Ward organiza- ton, and after the nominations were made it ‘was ascertained that about one third of the per- sons there were citizens of the Third War , and the other two thirds from the other wsrds. He deemed it advisable for all the wards to meet the same night, and thus prevent any packing of the ward meetings. He thoaght the meetings next Monday night would be large, snd itsbould then be understeod when the ward tickets were to be uominated. Mr Wilson said he had no knowledge of any intea- tion in the wards to nominate the ward ticket on Monday evening next. Mr. John H. Rus- sell said in the Sixth Ward the custom had been to nominaie the ward ticket on the same night as the delegates to the nominating con- vention were chosen. He thought it perfectly Proper for this clab to recommend that. the ward tickets be nominated on Monday, May lith. Mr. Dalton thought the delegates wer. sent here by the several wards te represent them, and it was the province of this club to advise and recommend to the ward clubs. He thought the delegates could come pre; next Friday night to say when it would be re. to make the ward nominations. Mr. A. - McKenna moved that the several wards be requested to nominate their ward tickets oa the first Monday after the Mayor should be nominated. Mr. John Mead moved to amend by striking out Monday, and leave it to the clubs when to nominate. The motion of Mr. McKenna was adopted. Mr. Owen Thorn here entered the room and occupied the chair. Mr. Jobn Collins said the registration would not be completed by the 4th of May, and he moved that the club request the nominating conven- tion to meet, organize and adjourn until after the registration should be completed; adopted. Mr. Savage thought it should be stated for what purpose the Central Association met, and what business was to be transacted. The Chair said this association was formed to act after the nominations should be made. Mr. Dalton said it was necessary to have a central organization, when the ward delegates could sdvise with each other, act in harmony, and do much ‘o further the interest of the party. Mr. George G. Wilson said the Fourth Ward was ‘now passing through the ordeal registration, and that ward was muca indebted to Mr. Jos. F. Hodgson. He stood there and pointed out men whom he had seen come ty cegister in the Third Ward, altho: they would not let him (ar. H.) come within twenty feet of the door. Mr. Wilson said he too was refused admission to the hall, aud could not communicate with his friends inside as to who were presenting themselves for the regis- try. The Radicals were making a desperate astempt at the Fourth Ward. They had said it was the back bone of anti-Radicalism, and they interged to break it.
